Dogs are amazingly resilient and tenacious. Hope was discovered as a young puppy with her internal organs hanging out in Gurgaon, India. Deepika Srivastavva stepped in to help her.
She was literally writhing in agony and wailing uncontrollably. When she was discovered, she had only been alive for about 20 days. According to our best assessment, she was likely taken from her mother and placed in a location with other stray dogs.
The dogs attacked her because they were territorial, and they then abandoned her to die. She was found and taken to the hospital, where she had surgery to have her stomach reinserted.
Hope is about four to five months old and doing great. Hope is an apt name for her given how much promise she carries and how grateful we are that she ever existed.
No one in India wanted to adopt her because of her history, so someone called Stray Dog to see if we could help. We had no part in her original rescue. Her lack of survival skills prevents her from returning to the streets.
We will provide support for this young girl until we can place her in another family. She appears to be physically healthy, but due to her ordeal, we had to postpone her spay surgery.
According to her rescuer and foster, she is exceptionally clever, loving, and crate and leash trained.
Share our story as far as possible so that we can help dogs like Hope.
