Dogs have always been known to be a man’s best friend. Their loyalty to their masters compares to no other. Most of them provide therapy to people undergoing extreme stress or depression, while others are guide dogs to visually impaired people and war veterans.

A family dog’s loyalty was witnessed by a mother, Lauren Carpio, when she checked her CCTV one early morning and saw the dog give a kiss to his sleeping master, Noah. According to the mother, the dog, whose name was Moose, was guarding his sick master and stayed in his room all night. The touching moment witnessed by the mother was captured on camera.

“He’s loved Noah since the day we brought him home and vice versa,” Lauren Carpio, the pair’s mom, said. “They instantly made a connection.”

When Lauren Carpio adopted Moose and brought him home, he instantly made a connection with Noah. They have been inseparable since. Noah had a heart condition that needed multiple surgeries. He had suffered complications and seizures, so his parents had to keep a close watch on him to avoid further attacks. They noticed that Noah was guarding him, too.

“We have a camera in his room called the Sami — it’s for people with epilepsy,” Lauren said. “We have a live feed we can watch, and it will alarm if he has any sudden jerking movements. I remember seeing Moose on the camera one night when he was still a puppy, and he just never stopped going in there.”

Lauren added, “A lot of times, he will walk up to his bed and check on him, then give him a kiss, which will sometimes wake Noah up, and then sleep right next to his bed.”

Witnessing the heartwarming moment between Moose and his sleeping brother, that was when Lauren learned that Moose’s loyalty was beyond compare. He wants to make sure that he is beside Noah in case of emergencies and checks on him every once in a while. Moose refuses to leave his sick master’s side to make sure his condition is stable. When something happens in the middle of the night, Moose would run to his parents for help.

“I’d say he is more observant when Noah isn’t feeling well or right after he has had a seizure,” Lauren said. “He will stay right next to his side, just staring at him and giving him a good lick on the cheeks every couple of minutes. Just to make sure Noah knows he’s there with him the entire time.”

When the Carpio family adopted Moose, they were unaware that they would be bringing home a therapy dog and a best friend for their son. Their instant connection was evident. Additionally, Moose took it upon himself to be Noah’s protector, and his parents are forever grateful to the faithful dog. Lauren is very thankful for Moose’s loyalty and realizes that she adopted the right dog for her son.

“I wish I could travel around the world and let everyone spend a day with Moose — it’s hard to put into words how special he really is,” Lauren said.
